OUR TESTIMONY

With only five days left to submit the IRS Form 1023 to obtain tax exempt status - the marathon was on!  The organization's application was submitted on July 13, 2001.

On July 19, 2001, six days later, we received an acknowledgement of receipt and notification of the initial review.    We were told it would take approximately 3-6 months (with questions) before a determination would be made.  And so the countdown began but the wait was not to be long!

On July 26, 2001 we held in hand our IRS 1045 letter granting LEAP Forward, Inc. an advance ruling.  Truly a miracle! Just 14 days after submission and not one question asked.   Proof positive that the IRS believed in our mission and the work of the organization.

For three years LEAP Forward, Inc. operated under an advance ruling on its tax-exempt status.  The IRS Form 1050 was granted on February 27, 2004, solidifying the organization as a official   501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to providing youth hope and opportunity.
