Youth Engineering

Engineering presentations and exhibits promote technical career fields and highlight the contributions of past and present successful minority engineers.  You are encouraged to take inspirations from the past and from those that came before you to aim toward a brighter future.  Push yourself beyond your own expectations!

Do you know that.....

  • Lonnie Johnson, an African American engineer who graduated from Tuskegee University, invented the Super Soaker high-powered water toy.

  • We are able to use cell phones because of the cellular infrastructure developed by Jesse Russell, an engineer at Bell Laboratories who graduated from Tennessee State University.

  • Linda Gooden was awarded the 2006 Black Engineer of the Year Award.  She serves as the President of Lockheed Martin's Information Technology Division.
